Taasilkan Zhumabaeva (born on 19 December 1958) is a Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, and a specialist in biochemistry, biophysics, pathophysiology and ecology. She is the Head of the Department of General and Clinical Biochemistry and Pathophysiology and the Director of the Research Institute of Medical and Biological Problems of the Southern Branch of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic (NAS KR).
In 1980, she graduated from the Faculty of Biology of Osh State Pedagogical Institute with a degree in Biology and Chemistry. From 1981 to 1983, she completed a scientific internship at the Institute of Chemical Physics of the USSR Academy of Sciences, after which she undertook full-time postgraduate studies at the same institute from 1983 to 1987, specialising in Biophysics.
In 1987, she defended her Candidate of Sciences (PhD) dissertation, and in 2001 she was awarded the degree of Doctor of Biological Sciences in Biophysics at the Institute of Biochemical Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow). She began her academic and teaching career in 1987 as a lecturer at the Department of Botany of Osh State Pedagogical Institute. Subsequently, she worked as a senior lecturer, associate professor and professor at the Department of Botany of Osh State University.
From 1998 to 2001, she undertook advanced scientific training at the Institute of Biochemical Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Between 2003 and 2005, she served as Dean of the Faculty of Natural and Geographical Sciences. She later held the positions of Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Vice-Rector for Research at Osh State University. From 2016 to 2019, she headed the Master's and PhD Doctoral Studies Department, and from 2019 to 2023 she served as Vice-Rector for Distance and Part-Time Education with the use of digital technologies.
Since 2023, she has been heading the Department of General and Clinical Biochemistry and Pathophysiology and has also been serving as Director of the Research Institute of Medical and Biological Problems of the Southern Branch of the NAS KR. She is actively engaged in research, organisational and educational activities.
She is the author and co-author of numerous scientific publications published in peer-reviewed journals, including those indexed in Scopus and the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI), as well as chapters in international collections and Springer publications. She holds author's certificates issued by Kyrgyzpatent for developments in biochemistry, ecology and natural resource processing.
Her research interests include biophysics, biochemistry, environmental issues, adaptive mechanisms of the human body, sustainable use of natural resources, and medical and biological aspects of environmental studies.
For her long-standing contribution to science and higher education, she has been awarded honorary certificates from Osh State University, the Mayor's Office of Osh, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, the "Excellence in Education" badge, as well as awards from Kyrgyzpatent, the National Attestation Commission under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, and the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Osh International Medical University, Kyrgyz Republic
Zhanibek Muratov (born on 6 January 1966) is a Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, specialist in pharmacology and pathological physiology, and President of Osh International Medical University.
In 1989, he graduated from the Sanitary and Hygienic Faculty of the Kyrgyz State Medical Institute with a degree in Sanitation and Hygiene. From 1993 to 1996, he undertook postgraduate studies in pharmacology. In 1996, he defended his PhD in Medical Sciences dissertation in Pharmacology, devoted to the role of the prostaglandin system in the processes of adaptation to hypoxia. In 2016, he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences after defending his doctoral dissertation, which examined the condition of the myocardium and haemodynamics during the use of cardiovascular drugs in high-altitude environments.
He began his professional and teaching career at the Kyrgyz State Medical Institute as an Assistant at the Department of Pharmacology. In subsequent years, he worked as a lecturer and associate professor and held various administrative and managerial positions within the system of higher medical education. He served as Deputy Dean for International Students, Dean of the Medical Faculty of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek University, and Associate Professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Pharmacology of Osh State University.
He later held the positions of Dean of the Faculty of Postgraduate Medical Education at Osh State University, Director of the Osh State University Medical Clinic, and Dean of the International Medical Faculty of Osh State University. Since 2022, he has been serving as President of Osh International Medical University. His total professional and teaching experience amounts to 36 years.
He is actively engaged in research, academic management, and educational activities, including the training of medical and academic staff. He is a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. He is the author of more than 100 scientific publications, including articles indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, four monographs, twelve methodological manuals, and three authors' certificates.
His research interests include pharmacology, pathological physiology, cardiovascular pharmacotherapy, mechanisms of adaptation to hypoxia and high-altitude conditions, as well as medical education and postgraduate professional training.
For his contribution to the development of science, higher medical education, and healthcare, he has been awarded Certificates of Honour from the Osh City Mayor's Office and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, the "Excellence in Healthcare" badge of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, the "Yiyk Til" medal for contributions to the development of the state language, and the honorary title "Honoured Figure of Osh State University".
